Peas

pisum sativum

The pea belongs to the family of pulses. It is annual and very significant as a valuable feed and green fertiliser plant as well as nitrogen supplier. Peas are particularly suitable as preliminary fruit for rape and winter grain, whereby they are extremely incompatible with themselves and thus require a cultivation break of 6-8 years. Peas thrive best on humus-rich soil with regular water supply while they are very sensitive to extremes, such as heavy or sandy soil, accumulated moisture and soil density. Among other, peas are used in our "topsoil Multitalent" catch crop mixture.
