Timothy grass

phleum pratense

Compared to other grass varieties, timothy grass has a medium significance for cultivation and is robust against the cold and wet. It has no particular requirements regarding the soil, but is sensitive to draught and is thus mainly used in heavy, cold and wet soil.
Here it has particular advantages, as it also handles short flooding better than other grass varieties. Timothy grass is a valuable mixing partner and an important component for new cultivation of meadows and pastures due to its minimal displacement effect on slower growing sub-grass varieties.
Timothy grass is used in many Standard mixtures (PremiumSaat), Plantinum mixtures and horse paddocks.
