Agricultural technology auction in Meppen sets a new record

For the first time ever, a total of 1,786 machines were auctioned off during the two-day event (18 and 19 November). The bids also rapidly attained new record levels.

A total of around 2,300 registrations – so more than ever before – were recorded by the event organiser, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, which is the world's largest auction house for agricultural machines and equipment as well as industrial equipment, with whom AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG has regularly conducted agricultural technology auctions since 2004.

Bids from 60 countries

"It was the largest auction we have ever held," revealed a satisfied Matthias Ressel, the sales manager for north Germany at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, and Guido Ottens, Managing Director of AGRAVIS Technik Center GmbH. The 15 per cent increase in bidders, who followed the auction live or online, alone is remarkable. Bids were received from 60 different countries, with the majority from Germany but also from Thailand, Peru, Canada, USA, Poland and the Netherlands.

Nearly-new machinery Nearly-new machinery proved particularly popular among the farmers, contractors and international retailers. Bidders also showed an interest in older models. "Prices remained at a stable level and were entirely in line with the market," Ressel summarises. This unreserved, public auction currently constitutes the highlight of the ten-year cooperation with AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG that has continued to grow and run very smoothly.

Caterpillar tractor auctioned for € 200,000

The auction offered a varied range of agricultural equipment in addition to machines for the construction industry, whereby each auction lot went to the highest bidder without any minimum bids or fixed prices, as is also the standard procedure. Bidders took part in the auction in person directly at the auction venue, live online on or via proxy bids. The largest machine, a Case-IH caterpillar tractor with 600 HP went to a Danish bidder for € 200,000.

"The agricultural technology auction in Meppen that we have held in collaboration with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers for a decade now, is hugely important to the second-hand machine sales of the AGRAVIS Technik group. The auction with its incomparable atmosphere is an important additional mainstay and at the same time the right approach to market agricultural machines, as we reach new markets and countries," underlines Guido Ottens. The recent auction once again provided impressive confirmation of this with a new bidder record.
