Online shop lights the first birthday candle

One year of online shop Twelve months after the start, customers can in the meantime chose between 9,000 items in this virtual store. The range in the areas of gardening, home and yard, pets, riding as well as textiles and shoes is thus almost double as wide as in the beginning.

"We will expand our range even further to 10,000 items in the course of this year still", explains Christoph Roer-Link, director of Raiffeisen Webshop GmbH & Co. KG. AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG and more than 30 other companies from the Raiffeisen network have opened this sales channel in September 2014. Goods delivery is managed via a newly built logistics hall in Münster.

For many years already, the partners have been successful in brick-and-mortar retail with their Raiffeisen stores Raiffeisen stores – not least because of the many attractive store brands by which the Raiffeisen stores set themselves apart from their competitors. With, this concept was transferred to the Internet so that the two distribution channels can supplement each other. "In many rural areas, the Raiffeisen stores have a local supplier function. For a year now, our online shop has been able to reach new, additional customers who do not have a Raiffeisen store in their neighbourhood", explains Christoph Kempkes, board member of AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG.

An ever increasing number of customers is making use of conveniently doing their shopping from home. "We are convinced that the number of visitors and transactions will continue to grow and will gain further momentum", says Roer-Link. During the first year of, products from the pet and garden range were particularly frequently placed into the shopping basket . "They are among the absolute bestsellers", reports the director and mentions different examples such as the Tepro charcoal barbecue, dog toys as well as different feeds under the "Raiffeisen Tierfreund" store brand for dogs and cats. Customers also like to have wood pellets under the Raiffeisen label "RPellets" delivered to their home via online ordering. "We also have a huge response to our promotional items", Roer-Link goes on to say.

On the occasion of its one-year anniversary, many surprises are waiting for visitors at "We have prepared a couple of things for the campaign which lasts from 7 to 20 September 2015", the director reveals. A gift box acts as a visual reminder of the anniversary offers. As a matter of fact, every order during these two weeks will be accompanied by a small gift. As special treat, all standard consignments will be delivered postage-free during the period 7 to 13 September 2015.

Apart from expanding the range in all areas – during the first year garden furniture and the AGRAVIS brands Desintec and Miravit were among others newly added – a further interlinking of the distribution channels is at the top of the agenda for the next months. First pilot stores are to be equipped with terminals to digitally expand the range of goods of the brick-and-mortar stores, for instance by garden furniture. Consideration is also given to the option of collecting goods that were ordered online from Raiffeisen stores free of shipping charges.
