"We see further potential for growth due to the planned majority takeover of CLAAS Hessen GmbH. We are convinced that we can provide customers with a strong product range and first-class service as a co-operative partner," assessed Gerd Schulz, managing director of AGRAVIS Technik Holding GmbH, and added: "With this takeover, we are able to expand on our market position within the regional agricultural technology trade and also strengthen our collaboration with the CLAAS Group. This means we also have the opportunity to further expand the sales region for CLAAS Technik and potentially reach new customers."
The planned acquisition of a majority shareholding in CLAAS Hessen GmbH – the takeover is awaiting permission from the Bundeskartellamt – is a clear marker from AGRAVIS to continue growing in one of the core segments of the group, namely machinery.
The family business CLAAS was established in 1913 and is one of the world's leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery. The company has its headquarters in Harsewinkel, Westphalia, and is the European market leader in combined harvesters. CLAAS is a world leader due to another large group of products, namely the self-propelled forage harvesters. With regard to agricultural technology, CLAAS is also world-renowned for its tractors as well as agricultural presses and harvesting machines for grassland. State-of-the-art agricultural information technology is also part of the product range. CLAAS has 11,500 employees worldwide and achieved a turnover of 3.8 billion euro during the 2015 financial year.
