Projects with added value for customers

Rigorous energy management and improved capacity utilisation of the feed product factories have helped AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG to continuously reduce energy intensity during feed production over the last two years. Compared to the previous year, the number of kilowatt hours for every tonne of feedstuff produced fell by 3.1 per cent to 59.5 kilowatt hours in 2014, and by an additional 2 per cent to 58.3 kilowatt hours in 2015. This is a result of the third AGRAVIS sustainability report, which has now been published.

The report was created in accordance with the G4 guidelines of global reporting and illustrates important activities and objectives with regard to sustainability. Beside further development of the AGRAVIS sustainability concept, this includes the consistent integration of sustainability management sustainability management into all business segments.

Reports are made of figures, data, and facts that apply to sustainability from the 2014 and 2015 financial years. In addition, there is also a focus on projects that are oriented towards the future, which AGRAVIS has carried out with customers, employees, and partners. One example is product management within the area of pig feed. In 2015 AGRAVIS introduced new feeding concepts for keeping sows and fattening pigs under the name Olympig, which meet the criteria for feedstuff with greatly reduced nitrogen (N) and phosphate (P) levels.

Added value is also provided by Eco-Efficiency Manager for Pigs, an online calculation tool for feed mixes that was developed by BASF for AGRAVIS. The tool enables comparison of different feed mixes according to their environmental and economic impact, from their origin through to the live pigs. AGRAVIS has also developed the energy information system (EIS) for customers. The system provides comparison reports that quickly supply users with a transparent energy profile for their business and shows potential savings.

The AGRAVIS sustainability report covers additional aspects relevant to sustainability in five fields of action, which also illustrate further potential for improvements alongside positive developments in energy efficiency.

AGRAVIS also covers the topic of sustainability in a special online version that can be found on the company website under sustainability company website under sustainability.
