Deutscher Raiffeisen Verband (DRV)
AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG is a member of the Deutsche Raiffeisenverband e.V. (DRV). The DRV is the umbrella association of the Raiffeisen cooperatives for the agricultural and food industry in Germany. It represents roughly 3,000 cooperative enterprises.
Along the value added chain in the food sector, member companies in agricultural trade and in the industry processing animal and plant products achieve an annual turnover of more than 50 billion Euro. The association is committed to safeguarding the interests of these companies in the German agricultural and food industry. The German agricultural companies collect and process the entire range of animal and plant products. As a bridge to the market, the agricultural cooperative societies sell these products both at home and abroad.
The objective of the DRV is to assure the business success of its members. Strong agricultural cooperative societies are reliable commercial and contractual partners. "Achieving more together" is the simple and successful principle of cooperative trading. The idea of joint economic activities has long since established itself worldwide and spans credit and agricultural cooperatives.
Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, after whom the association was named, was one of the founders of the cooperative movement in Germany in the 19th century. In 1930, Andreas Hermes merged the agrarian cooperatives with more than four million members into the National Association of German Agricultural Cooperatives - Raiffeisen. This gave rise to the Deutsche Raiffeisenverband e.V. in 1948. Since 1999, Manfred Nüssel has been President of the DRV.
