AGRAVIS concentrated feed factories certified in accordance with EN 16001

Energy management guidelines

The AGRAVIS feed production plants in Münster and Dorsten are pioneers in energy management matters. Recently, both locations were certified to DIN EN 16001 standard. This is official certification that the two production facilities have successfully introduced an energy management system and now use it permanently.

Since August 2009, the new EN 16001 standard has served companies as a guideline for setting up an energy management system with a view to increasing energy efficiency in the long term. Until recently, this certification was voluntary - a "free section", as it were, but it is compulsory from 2013 onwards. "We started long before, which meant that we were able to make all preparations for the certification audit in our own time", Heiko Almann, Managing Director of AGRAVIS Mischfutter Westfalen GmbH, said in retrospect.

Energy consumption at all the AGRAVIS compound feed factories, including Münster und Dorsten, is organised according to the new certificate and management system. As a result, the factories are able to contribute towards climate protection. Mr Almann said, "The certification has shown clearly that it is possible to continue reducing energy costs and energy-related damage, providing you have the right plan."
