Future-oriented feeding

Feed cows based on need while also complying with the specifications in the new Fertiliser Ordinance

Feeding cattle has become a fresh challenge after the new Fertiliser Ordinance was introduced. Farms can use new feeding concepts to meet the targets imposed by legislators to reduce the levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on farming land.

Needs-based mineral feed supply plays an even more decisive role in cattle farming in face of changes in circumstances. One reason is the amended Fertiliser Ordinance, which aims to reduce nutrient surpluses on farming land in Germany for the long term.

AGRAVIS production consultants provide calculations for farms on an individual basis

Since 2018, tighter restrictions have applied to farm-specific nitrogen and phosphorous balance levels and a mandatory field-shed balance sheet has also been introduced. This entailed major changes to the nutrient balance and farming land requirements for many cattle farms. Farms have managed to adapt to these changes with a sophisticated feeding system. AGRAVIS production consultants can calculate phosphorus- and amino acid-optimised dairy cow rations specifically for every farm, for example. In doing so, they help to reduce nutrient contents in manure on a lasting basis.

Reduce raw protein and gross phosphorous with VitaMiral

Newly created VitaMiral mineral feed types and Laktaria or Lakto QFit balance feed are used, depending on requirements. These enable raw protein and gross phosphorus contents to be selectively reduced in the provided rations. This ensures that the performance-related need for digestible amino acids and phosphorus in the dairy cow's small intestine is taken into account. In addition to the required phosphorus supply, the AGRAVIS ration calculation tool also always ensures that rumen microbes are provided with the required amount of available phosphorus.

Reduced nitrogen and phosphorus secretions

Field-tested ration optimisation ensures reduced nitrogen and phosphorus secretion in dairy cows while delivering consistently high herd performance. The reproducibility required for a nutrient reduction strategy of this type is guaranteed thanks to individual ration calculations. The native contents and digestibility of silages, the business’s own concentrated feed and the quantities of staple feed are taken into account when composing rations. Besides ensuring lower nutrient excretion, the revised VitaMiral range also plays a role in the AGRAVIS project longevity. The project is designed to provide product solutions for dairy cows at all life stages, from heifer to dairy cow, and increase dairy cow cost efficiency.

Feedstuff to promote herd health

Fertility and metabolic disorders and udder and motor system diseases are the main causes of loss among dairy cows across Germany. The AGRAVIS mineral feed range includes four types specially designed to mitigate such problems. They have been shown to increase herd fertility, reduce metabolic disorders such as rumen acidosis, help to decrease somatic cells in milk and reduce incidences of claw and limb disorders.

The VitaMiral range makes savings in conjunction with the innovative AGRAVIS feed cost ration calculation and reduces excess nitrogen and phosphorous in rations for the long term while also contributing to project longevity and future-oriented milk production.
