Andreas Buck, workshop foreman at Newtec, explained the hydraulics and braking technology of a tractor to the 45 apprentice mechatronics technicians for agricultural and construction machinery.

"It is important to us that apprentices touch upon practical matters as early as possible and also network with each other", emphasised Heinrich-Hubertus Machtens, foreman at Newtec and organiser of the event. At six different stations, the apprentices from different years were given the opportunity to learn, experiment and ask questions. "Now I know how this baler knotter works in practice. This is important for my intermediate examination", said René Draack, an 18 year old apprentice mechatronics technicians for agricultural and construction machinery.

As well as practical experience, participants also gained an insight into Newtec's business and information regarding career paths for industrial employees. An additional aspect of the programme was customer communication. Communications expert Walter Hennig provided tips for day-to-day work: "Always remain natural, honest, and reliable with your customers. They are all adverts for our service!" The apprentices practised several different customer dialogues in small groups.

For the first time a training workshop of this type took place for all apprentices. All apprentice apprentice mechatronics technicians for agricultural and construction machinery at Newtec and partner locations were invited. The objective was to provide the youngsters with practical insight and to enhance their sense of togetherness.
