To keep your animals healthy and productive, you need to clean and disinfect your stables regularly. Optimised hygiene management with effective products is important here. Hygiene as an important factor

Hygiene and cleanliness are top priorities in modern animal husbandry. A lack of hygiene leads to an increasing diversity of germs and drives up the total bacterial load in a short space of time. This puts a considerable strain on your animals' immune system and, in the worst case, can lead to performance-reducing diseases. Therefore, clean and disinfect your stables thoroughly and regularly to prevent pathogens from spreading in the first place.

Cleaning stables

For disinfection to be effective, you must first clean your barn thoroughly. This is because the pathogens that cause transmissible diseases are often found in fat and protein films. However, these cannot simply be removed with a pressure washer and disinfectants cannot penetrate them.
You must therefore clean the surfaces with chemical agents before disinfecting. Our Desintec hygiene programme offers with

Your work steps when using StallClean Basis and StallClean Profi:


  1. Stall out animals
  2. Carry out preparatory work (e.g. remove movable equipment and sweep out the barn)
  3. Soak stall via soaking system
  4. Lather the barn with a 1-2 per cent solution of StallClean Basis or StallClean Profi shortly before high-pressure cleaning
  5. Thoroughly clean the barn with a high-pressure cleaner

Disinfect stables

When subsequently disinfecting, bear in mind that different germs require the targeted use of disinfectants. General disinfectants based on aldehydes and acids are effective against key groups of germs such as bacteria and viruses.

Disinfect your stables in the following steps:


  1. Disinfection as part of dysentery and
    fly control
    with
    Alzogur
    in wet stalls. Calculate the required amount of Alzogur based on the residual slurry and spread the solution evenly and coarsely over the wet slatted floor using a watering can. Rinse the stable surfaces thoroughly after a contact time of one to two hours until the blue colour has disappeared.
  2. Wait until the stable surfaces are completely dry. Nothing should be damp any more.
  3. Disinfect the barn with
    Desintec Peroxx liquid
    based on peracetic acid or alternatively with
    Desintec FL-des GA forte
    based on glutaraldehyde (both DVG-tested).
  4. If additional disinfection against worm eggs is required, we recommend the product
    Desintec FL-des Allround
    . It is DVG-listed and is effective against bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites such as coccidia and worm eggs in just one step.
  5. Observe the application time of two hours and allow the stable surfaces to dry completely afterwards.

When selecting a disinfectant, the cost per square metre plays a decisive role in addition to effectiveness. For optimum disinfection against bacteria and viruses (coated and uncoated), you only need a 0.5 per cent solution of Desintec Peroxx liquid. The product also reduces corrosion and is effective even at low temperatures (10 degrees Celsius).

Calculation of the working solution for disinfectants

Stable floor area in square metres x 0.4 litres of working solution (according to DVG) x 1.7 (factor for walls, partition grids and stable equipment) = working solution in litres.

Bactericide:


  • Special disinfection: 0.75 % / 30 min or 0.50 % / 60 to 120 min (at 10 degrees Celsius)
  • Preventive disinfection: 0.50 % / 30 to 60 min or 0.25 % / 120 min

Virucidal:


  • Unenveloped viruses: 0.75 % / 30 min or 0.50 % / 60 min or 0.25 % / 120 min (at 20 degrees Celsius)
  • Enveloped viruses: 0.50 % / 30 min or 0.25 % / 60 to 120 min
