News: Foot and mouth disease

The main symptoms in cattle are high fever and fluid-filled blisters (aphthae) on the mouth, tongue, claws and teats. The formation of blisters on and in the mouth leads to reduced feed intake.

Comprehensive safety measures are required to effectively prevent foot and mouth disease (FMD). They are aimed at preventing the transmission of the virus and protecting animal health.

What biosecurity measures must be observed?

Targeted precautionary measures are crucial to reduce the risk of foot-and-mouth disease being introduced. Good and well thought-out hygiene on farms is the basis for preventing the introduction of the virus.

The measures include

• Reduce access for vehicles and people to the company premises to the bare minimum
• Only enter the barn via the hygiene sluice
• Maintain strict separation of the black and white area
• Use the company's own protective clothing (overalls, boots, cap, gloves). If you do not have your own protective clothing, use disposable overalls, disposable overshoes/boots and disposable gloves. These remain on the farm after the visit to the stable!
• Consistent rodent control

Components A + B work synergistically, i.e. they enhance each other's effect. FL-des Allround Pro is suitable for disinfecting animal stables, facilities, and equipment. It can be applied directly with a foam lance as a premix. Foam application is particularly effective. Alternatively, FL-des Allround Pro can also be applied as a ready-to-use solution (water + component A + component B) using a disinfection trolley or a cold fogging device.
