Raiffeisen Medal for Dr Clemens Große Frie
Dr Clemens Große Frie has been awarded the Raiffeisen Medal of the Deutscher Raiffeisenverband (DRV) – the German Association of Raiffeisen Cooperatives for the Agricultural and Food Industry. “Your outstanding services, unflagging dedication and ability to inspire those around you merit this exceptional honour,” confirmed Manfred Nüssel, President of the Deutscher Raiffeisenverband, at the award ceremony in Berlin on Wednesday.

- Dr Clemens Große Frie said he was grateful and delighted to accept the Raiffeisen Medal from DRV Present Manfred Nüssel.
In awarding its highest honour, the DRV was recognising Große Frie’s successful entrepreneurial involvement in the cooperative association and his dedicated work on various bodies of the Raiffeisenverband, not least since his appointment as Vice President in 2008. Quoting the award certificate, Nüssel praised Große Frie as “An outstanding representative of the German cooperative system who had made a lasting contribution to it”.
As Chairman of the Managing Board, Dr Clemens Große Frie had been the head of AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG from 2004 until the end of 2016. Over this period, the 64-year old manager had transformed the agricultural trade and service company from a regional main cooperative (Hauptgenossenschaft) into a growing, internationally networked group which had nevertheless remained focused on the German market. Große Frie retired on 31 December 2016 and handed over the reins to the new CEO Andreas Rickmers.
Manfred Nüssel congratulated Dr Clemens Große Frie on behalf of the DRV Executive Committee, member companies and the entire cooperative association on the award of this rare and special distinction. “The cooperative organisation would like to thank you for your dedication, your vision and also for your sometimes uncomfortably frank openness to dialogue whenever the future of cooperative agricultural trading was at stake.”
