AGRAVIS Supports Re-Planting: New Lime Trees for Münster's Promenade
Since the Whitsun storm and the inclement weather in July felled numerous trees, Münster's promenade has thinned out significantly. But relief is in sight: on Wednesday, representatives of industrial enterprises from Münster unveiled an information board at the Ludgeristraße/Promenade crossing, explaining the re-plantation. AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG is also supporting the action.

"We will start to plant 60 winter limes in the spring", Wolfgang Fritsch-Albert, Chairman of the Westfalen Group, announced. The Westfalen Group is one of 25 industrial enterprises from Münster that have taken on tree sponsorships. Lord Mayor Markus Lewe thanked the companies for their commitment: "By taking on tree sponsorships on the promenade, you are setting a strong example of social responsibility."
Apart from the industrial enterprises, several Münster citizens have also spontaneously taken on a tree sponsorship. "A fine example of solidarity between citizenry and industry in our town", said Bernd Homann, of AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG, enthusiastically. AGRAVIS also belongs to the group of tree sponsors.
In keeping with the motto "Industry in Münster shows its colours", 25 industrial enterprises from Münster are committed to removing damage to the promenade caused by inclement weather. The aim of this community project initiated and supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is to raise public awareness of the importance of industry as the driving force behind progress and employment. "With around 13,000 employees, Münster is by far the largest industrial location in Münsterland", Wieland Pieper, Head of Division of Chamber of Commerce and Industry North-Westphalia, stressed. He added that the public usually perceived Münster as a university and administrative town.
This project is being implemented in close consultation with the Green Spaces and Environmental Protection Department of the city of Münster. At the same time, it is a further contribution by business under the In|du|stry acceptance campaign, with which companies in Münster are nailing their colours to the mast and assuming social responsibility.
